Life on our side of the sound means exploring all the different sides of your coastal lifestyle. Find your adventurous side while enjoying activities that range from antique shopping in Duck or Corolla, to duck hunting and kayaking. Find that tranquil side by taking to the sound in a small boat and floating lazily with the current, enjoying the lapping of the waves against the hull and the sun on your face. Find your social side by enjoying the friendship of neighbors at a get together at the Waterside Club, or heading out for an afternoon exploring the outdoors or nearby coastal towns. The possibilities are endless.

The calming effect of the sound not only gives Waterside Villages an air of tranquility; it also creates a paradise for an enthusiast of the outdoors, whether fishermen or duck hunter, parasailer or bird watcher. Venture out into the area surrounding the community and you’ll discover the many attractions that have made the Outer Banks famous. There are vineyards and microbreweries to tour, beaches, shops and restaurants to explore, and three championship golf courses to challenge even the lowest handicap. All within just a short drive from our front gate.

What’s it like living on the Carolina coast? Gentle sea breezes. Carolina blue sky. A friendliness about it. As you might imagine, it’s quite easy to become emotionally attached to this place. Charles Kuralt, in North Carolina is My Home, gives you an idea of what it feels like. “From where I sit, on the broad porch of my mother and father, I can see down Jean Guite Creek to Currituck Sound. The sun warms my shoulders, a breeze whispers through the pines, a great blue heron flaps across the water toward the marsh. I have been gone a long time but now I am home.”

There’s an elegant simplicity and an honesty to living on the coast. It’s an unhurried life, free from complications and it’s visible even in our architecture. We call it Coastal Craftsman because it blends life on the Carolina coast with the American Craftsman style of the 1920’s. We start with materials and colors that look and feel a natural part of life on the coast, then with features such as open floorplans, low pitched gable roofs and columned porches, create a home that is comfortable and liveable, one that expresses the beauty and simplicity of coastal life; life on “our side of the Sound.”

“What a pleasant place to live – near so many places, but the neighborhood is quiet and restful. The pool and clubhouse are great for gatherings!”
