Meet the Neighbors

Bonnie Houser has been part of the Waterside Villages family since the beginning – for almost 10 years. She served as part of the initial sales team before moving to the community 4 years ago. She has seen the community grow from it’s initial vision to the thriving community it is today and simply loves the combination of location amenities and people. As a Realtor, she understands the attraction of a great community and feels like Waterside Villages has everything to offer. She moved to the area to be near family including her daughter and two small grandsons who live minutes away in Grandy.

She was attracted to the community because she loves the gated aspect, the amenities and the small neighborhood feel with neighbors you know and socialize with. She says the location is great because it is centrally located between the Outer Banks and towns like Elizabeth City. She loves the “off the beaten path” feel of the community, but is glad it is less than an hour from a city like Norfolk, where she can go to experience all the aspects of city life when she desires. “It’s a very serene and peaceful area with the beautiful view of the Currituck Sound.”

Bonnie considers herself the unofficial hostess or mayor of Waterside Villages and spends a great deal of time socializing with friends in the clubhouse, pool or grill room. “I have friends who visit and are so stunned by the beauty of the location and the facilities – they actually decide to rent the clubhouse for events, after spending some time here with me.” She even had a friend schedule her daughter’s wedding at the pier. Bonnie loves spending time with her two grandsons and helping to organize the local chapter of cub scouts. She enjoys fitness including Zumba and kettle weights and is an avid reader and watcher of people. She also enjoys visiting Sanctuary Vineyards just down the road for art classes, tastings and festivals.

Bonnie is always excited to welcome new families to the community. “I love the mix of people who are here –such a wide variety – from young families to retirees. I consider Waterside Villages to be a hidden gem with amazing potential to be a real addition to this area. As the waterfront is developed it’s going to become a focal point of the community. As the community grows it’s going to continue to be a very active and vibrant neighborhood.”
